Professor of Neurology
University of Florida
Gainesville, Florida, United States
I am currently a professor of neurology, as well as the program director and division chief of movement disorders at the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases, University of Florida. The Fixel Institute is an integral part of the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases and the McKnight Brain Institute at UF. Prior to my appointment at UF, I practiced neurology at the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center at Albany Medical Center, where I held the position of associate professor of neurology and the Philly E. Dake Endowed Chair in Movement Disorders.
I completed my neurology residency at Loyola University Chicago and pursued a fellowship in movement disorders at the University of California, San Francisco. My expertise covers the full spectrum of movement disorders, including cerebellar ataxias, the application of botulinum toxin injections, and the use of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for therapeutic management.
My research is focused on understanding the neurophysiological changes in the brain associated with movement disorders and advancing the use of neuromodulation for the treatment of rare neurological conditions. Clinically, I am dedicated to exploring innovative therapeutic approaches and novel neuromodulation techniques in the field of movement disorders.
