Dr. Anna Woodbury is a double-board-certified pain physician, anesthesiologist and an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at Emory University, licensed in the state of Georgia. She founded the Pain Division at the Atlanta VA in 2014 and served as Division Chief until re-focusing her efforts on pain research. She now serves as the Vice Chair of Research for the Emory Anesthesiology Department and has a general interest in non-pharmacological therapies for pain management and a special interest in non-invasive brain stimulation and the development of neuroimaging biomarkers for pain and treatment response. She has obtained masters level training in clinical research, completed both clinical and research fellowships in pain management, and her federal funding has allowed her to study neuroimaging biomarkers of pain and response to neuromodulating techniques such as percutaneous electrical nerve field stimulation (PENFS), cranial electrical stimulation (CES), repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), and noninvasive vagus nerve stimulation (nVNS). Dr. Woodbury's goal is to better treat pain with non-pharmacological, non-invasive or minimally invasive approaches in order to better serve patients by reducing risks and increasing benefits.
