Dr. Ilknur Telkes is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Arizona. Dr. Telkes, with over a decade of experience, specializes in electrophysiological data recordings, neural engineering, and biomedical signal processing. Her research focuses on discovering neuromarkers and developing algorithms to enhance clinical neuromodulation therapies.
Her primary research, funded by the NIH K99/R00, investigates EEG signatures in patients undergoing SCS for chronic pain. Dr. Telkes is dedicated to understanding chronic pain mechanisms, identifying neural signatures of pain relief, and creating computational tools for clinical use. Her continuously funded research program also explores multimodal sensing signals and their integration with machine learning to advance our understanding of neurological disorders and contribute to clinical decision-making.
Dr. Telkes's contributions to the field have earned her several prestigious awards, including the 2023 Neurosurgery Pain Paper of the Year Award, the 2023 North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) Krishna Kumar Young Investigator Award, and the 2021 Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Ronald R. Tasker Young Investigator Award. She remains deeply engaged in professional organizations, serving on multiple committees for NANS and the NYC Neuromodulation Conference, and holds editorial board roles for various journals.
