Dr. Hatheway graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Physiology in 1988. He then attended Georgetown University, School of Medicine in 1993 graduating with honors and earning his MD degree. Dr. Hatheway completed a residency in Anesthesiology in 1997 at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, where he served as Chief Resident his final year. He completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine at Mayo Clinic, Rochester in 1998. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Hatheway entered the United States Navy and practiced anesthesiology and interventional pain medicine. After Dr. Hatheway finished his Naval service, he spent 4 years in Missoula, Montana in private practice. ,Dr. Hatheway moved to Spokane, WA in 2007 and practiced interventional pain management in a busy neurosurgical practice. Understanding that a true multidisciplinary pain clinic was not present in the Spokane area, Dr. Hatheway founded Northwest Pain Care, Inc. and continues to develop a multidisciplinary practice. Dr. Hatheway is involved in clinical research associated with implantable therapies for chronic pain. He has a strong interest in spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, micro-dosing intrathecal drug delivery, Balloon Kyphoplasty and other minimally invasive procedures.
