Dr. Rivera-Cruz was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She obtained her MD degree at the University of Puerto Rico graduating Magna Cum Laude. She completed her Neurology residency at the same institution. She then moved to the U.S to complete a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of South Florida, followed by an Epilepsy Fellowship at Emory University.
In 2019, Dr. Rivera-Cruz joined the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine where she serves as an Assistant Professor. Her main interests are in the diagnosis and management of drug-resistant seizures, Critical Care EEG monitoring, neuro-modulation, and autoimmune seizures. She has co-authored several publications, book chapters, and is the Principal Investigator of several clinical trials for drug-resistant seizures.
