Dr. Yong is the Chief of Pain Medicine and Medical Director of the Pain Management Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He earned his MD/MBA from Baylor College of Medicine and Rice University, followed by an anesthesiology residency and Pain Medicine fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he was Chief Resident and recognized as the Distinguished Resident of the Year.
Dr. Yong served as Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he received multiple teaching awards. Since returning to Brigham and Women’s in 2013, he has been Associate Program Director for the Pain Management Fellowship and has earned several Pain Attending of the Year awards. He was also recognized with the 2018 Outstanding Mentoring Award.
His research and clinical interests focus on opioid management, regenerative medicine, cancer pain, and neuromodulation. He has collaborated on product development with MIT, Harvard Business School, and Harvard’s Graduate School of Engineering. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Yong is passionate about international health, participating in medical missions to countries including the Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Ecuador, Brazil, and Guatemala.
