Assistant Research Professor
Houston Methodist Hospital
Houston, Texas, United States
I earned my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Houston, focusing on cardiovascular tissue engineering and developing systems for electrophysiological characterization of bioengineered cardiac tissues. I advanced my expertise in neurourology at the Houston Methodist Research Institute under Drs. Timothy Boone and Alvaro Muñoz, studying the electrophysiological properties of neurogenic bladders and spinal networks involved in lower urinary tract (LUT) function. Later, at the Center for Neuroregeneration with Dr. Philip Horner, I deepened my understanding of neural networks governing sensorimotor and autonomic processes, including brain-bladder connections.
Now an Assistant Research Professor in Urology at Houston Methodist, mentored by Dr. Rose Khavari, I lead clinical research on neuromodulatory therapies and use neuroimaging to explore neural regulation of LUT function. My recent study mapping intrinsic neural activity of the lumbosacral spinal cord in healthy individuals yielded breakthrough insights, winning the grand prize in the 40th Diokno-Lapides Essay Contest and providing preliminary data for an AUA Research Scholar Award.
